We are in a defining moment for our democracy. Despite overwhelming opposition to the “Big, Beautiful Bill,” the Senate voted today to pass this harmful bill, which will drastically cut essential programs that millions of Americans depend on to survive and thrive, such as Medicaid and SNAP.
Today’s vote was so close, Friend. Why? Because of our collective advocacy efforts. People like you called and emailed their senators in droves to demand they stand up for the American people.
But this fight isn’t over. Now, the ball is in the House of Representatives’ court, and we must keep the momentum going. Contact your representative today to demand they vote “NO” on the proposed budget reconciliation bill before it’s too late.
64% of Americans don’t want this bill to pass, according to a KFF Health Tracking Poll. It would undermine the health and well-being of a majority of Americans, including working families, seniors, young kids, and other communities, while benefiting the wealthy few — and we won’t allow this harmful legislation to pass without putting up a good fight.
If the bill passes, it would cut billions in funding for:
- Medicaid,
- SNAP,
- Education grants and awards,
- And other key social safety net programs.
States that stand to lose the most:
- Louisiana
- West Virginia
- Kentucky
- Arkansas
- Alaska
- Oklahoma
- Montana
- Alabama
- North Carolina
- South Carolina
- Tennessee
- Indiana
