Our Mission
The mission of the NAACP Youth Council shall be to inform youth of the problems affecting African Americans and other racial and ethnic minorities; to advance the economic, education, social and political status of African Americans and other racial and ethnic minorities and their harmonious cooperation with other peoples; to stimulate an appreciation of the African Diaspora and other people of color’s contribution to civilization; and to develop an intelligent, militant effective youth leadership.

Ja’Von L. Fields
Youth Council President, Greater Grand Rapids NAACP
Newly elected President of the Greater Grand Rapids NAACP Youth Council, first joined the organization in February of 2017. His involvement with the NAACP ranges from being President of his local branch, to Juvenile Justice Chair of the MI State Youth & College Divison, and a certified Trainer of the National NAACP Youth & Collge Divison. Ja’Von attends Grand Rapids Community College where he is majoring in Political Science. He plans to transfer to an HBCU, but he is still not sure where. Please join us in congratulating our NAACP Greater Grand Rapids Youth Council President-elect Ja’Von L. Fields.
Ja’Von L. Fields serves as the President of the Greater Grand Rapids Branch NAACP Youth Council. His involvement with the NAACP ranges from being President of his local youth council and he is a certified Civic Engagement trainer of the National NAACP Youth & College Division.
Ja’Von attends Grand Valley State University where he is majoring in Political Science with a concentration in Legal Studies. Ja’Von’s community involvement ranges from being a board member of the Police Chief Advisory Team, a community impact team member with A Glimpse of Africa, and a member of the National Professional Men’s Network.
Ja’Von has previously worked for two civic engagement organizations including NextGen America and For Our Future Fund.
