In 2015, the Grand Rapids Police Department made a commitment to improving its relationship with neighbors and residents of the City of Grand Rapids! As of today, GRPD has proposed a $1 million budget cut that could eliminate funding for positions and programs dedicated to improving community policing practices. This past Saturday, May 9th The Greater Grand Rapids NAACP in partnership with the Grand Rapids Center for Community Transformation and Feeding America of West Michigan together we successfully facilitated our first COVID-19 relief community giveback. Through teamwork and resiliency, we provided 50+ pounds of groceries and cleaning/hygiene supply packages to 250+ families in the local community.
