Contract Summary: The Community Collaboration on Climate Change (C4) is a three-year pilot program designed to partner with individuals, social justice organizations, environmental organizations and businesses to encourage broad participation, education, and leadership of climate justice and climate resiliency efforts in Grand Rapids. Deliverables include working with the Leadership Team, subcommittees, C4 fiduciary partners (Michigan Black Expo, Inc. and Hispanic Center of West Michigan), and community to implement the program elements of the Community Collaboration on Climate Change. The contractor will serve as the backbone of the collective C4 network to translate plans into tangible programmatic actions with the C4 Leadership Team. The contractor must be highly organized, energized by working with and coordinating people, a good communicator, and facilitator, and confident in reinforcing and maintaining equitable values in actions, direction, and outcomes.

The contractor will be responsible for honoring a shared leadership model to facilitate and communicate with groups of people with diverse interests and from diverse backgrounds. Project management is an important component of this work, but being in a community with Grand Rapidians is at the heart of this work. The C4 Leadership Team recognizes the complex intersectionality of climate justice, racial equity, and accessibility to resources and information. Prior deep knowledge of climate change science is not required, but understanding that climate justice is social justice is necessary for this work.

If applicants are not currently established in a way to serve as a contractor, then the C4 Leadership Team is willing to support the applicant in establishing necessary items and identifying referrals (i.e., LLC, business documents, etc.), however, an LLC is not a requirement.
